Women’s Volleyball

The College of Alameda is looking for experienced volleyball players who are interested in playing on our intercollegiate volleyball team. However, if you do not have prior volleyball experience, but have played other team sports and have excellent work ethics, athletic, a team player and the willingness to put in the work, please contact Coach Thompson at (510) 388-6185.

PROSPECTIVE STUDENT-ATHLETES INFORMATION

ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENT-ATHLETES:

SUMMER SEMESTER – RECOMMEND 3 ACADEMIC UNITS, INCLUDING WEIGHT TRAINING & VOLLEYBALL

FALL SEMESTER – 12-15 ACADEMIC UNITS, INCLUDING INTERCOLLEGIATE VOLLEYBALL & CONDITIONING CLASSES (Recommend all academic courses be taken between the hours of 8:00am-12:00pm to not interfere with team travel.)

SPRING SEMESTER – 15 ACADEMIC UNITS, INCLUDING WEIGHT TRAINING & VOLLEYBALL CLASSES

NEW STUDENT-ATHLETES: BEFORE YOU CAN REGISTER IN ANY ACADEMIC COURSES, you must complete the following steps below.

  • Complete college application at CCC Apply: www.cccapply.org
    Take the Assessment Test for English and Math. An application for admission must be filed with the admissions and records office prior to taking the assessment test. Contact the testing center (510) 748-5267, to make an appointment. If you tested at another campus, bring a copy with you to be exempted. Note: There are some exemptions, please contact the testing office for qualifications.
  • Meet with Athletics Academic Counselor – Call (510) 748-2360.
  • Enroll On-Line www.alameda.peralta.edu
  • Register for classes – There are certain weeks throughout the year to register. The course catalog provides the necessary information. Call Admissions (510) 748-228.
  • Fill out Financial Aid Forms at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov If you need further information, call Financial Aid Services at (510) 748-2391.

The College of Alameda abides by the provisions of the California Community College Athletic Code as well as the specifications imposed by the Bay Valley Conference (BVC) and the Calfornia Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA). The nature of these requirements are very exacting. Athletes are advised to become thoroughly familiar with the requirements to avoid loss of eligibility. A copy of the State Athletic Code is on file in the office of the Athletic Director.

CURRENT COLLEGE OF ALAMEDA STUDENT-ATHLETES: To be eligible for intercollegiate competition: Freshman must be enroll in a minimum of 14 academic units, including the intercollegiate volleyball course.

If you competed during your freshman year, for your sophomore year, you must have passed a total of 24 units prior to the 2nd season with a cumulative grade point average of at least a 2.5.

TRANSFERRING STUDENTS FROM ANOTHER CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE/4-YEAR COLLEGE WHO COMPETED ONE YEAR: In order to be eligible to compete your 2nd season of Volleyball at the College of Alameda, you must have completed 15 academic units where you last competed and 15 academic units at the College of Alameda.

ALL STUDENT-ATHLETES (FRESHMEN OR TRANSFERRING IN) MUST COMPLETE THEIR 2-YEAR STUDENT EDUCATIONAL PLAN (SEP) BEFORE PRACTICING. SEE HECTOR CORRALES, ATHLETIC ACADEMIC COUNSELOR IN THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE.

2015 Cougar Volleyball

The Cougars finished 7th place in the Bay Valley Conference. Sophomore middle hitter Nadia Bedard received Bay Valley All-Conference First Team and sophomore libero Ashley Saelee was honorable-mentioned.

The Cougars finished 6th place in the Bay Valley Conference. Led by sophomores Jasmine Cruz and Taylor Elliott, and freshman Nadia Bedard. Sophomore Elliott received Bay Valley All-Conference First Team and Cruz received Honorable-mentioned.

2013 Cougar Volleyball

The Cougars finished 2nd place in the Bay Valley Conference last season and earned a berth to the “Sweet 16”; finishing among the top 16 in the State. Sophomore Eboni Green received Bay Valley All-Conference First Team.
